Making every minute count, Julia + Yannick followed me through the tall grass and shady wooded paths of Richmond park to find a glorious golden hour up on the hill.
GET ME GOLDEN HOUR NOW.
Sometimes the best shoots are the spontaneous ones, and Julia + Yannick’s Richmond Park session was exactly that. They’d been together for years and wanted a special reminder of their visit to London from Germany – something more meaningful than a selfie at Big Ben. We had 30 minutes, which is an absolute record for me, but honestly, when you’ve got a couple this natural and romantic together, and Richmond Park delivering wild deer and a massive golden sunset, you don’t need much time at all.
They were so easy to photograph – just genuinely happy to stroll through the woods together, completely comfortable with each other after all their years together. That kind of established relationship brings a different energy to photos. There’s no awkwardness, no posing stress, just two people who know each other inside out enjoying a beautiful evening in one of London’s most gorgeous parks. The deer appearing in the background was the cherry on top – you can’t plan for that kind of magic.
Shoot it, print it, frame it. Remember it forever.
That golden sunset though. Richmond Park at golden hour is already stunning, but this particular evening was something else. Warm light filtering through the trees, long shadows, that soft glow on everything – it was perfect. For Julia + Yannick, it’s now a beautiful memory of their London trip. For me, it’s a reminder that sometimes 30 minutes with the right couple in the right place is all you need to create something special.
