Hidden in the valleys and hills of Dartmoor Meghan + Alex got said ‘yes’ to life with each other and said ‘absolutely not’ to bad weather stopping their celebration.
HAYTOR ROCKS. YES, IT CERTAINLY DOES.
Devon weather can be properly dramatic, and Meghan and Alex’s Haytor wedding gave us the full experience – wind, rain, moody skies, and then, just when we needed it, the clouds parted for the most incredible golden hour. The day started at the gorgeous old church before heading down to the Moorland Hotel, and honestly, the whole setting was stunning even in the wild weather. The groomsmen kicked off the morning with scratchcards, which is possibly the most relaxed pre-wedding activity I’ve seen, and the matching dark green suits and bridesmaid dresses looked absolutely perfect for autumn.
When golden hour hit and we got up to Haytor Rocks for couple photos, it was absolutely magical. Those dramatic rock formations with the perfect light after all that rain? Chef’s kiss. The landscape up there is incredible anyway, but catching it in that brief window of gorgeous weather made for some seriously epic shots. Back at the reception, there were lawn games, a magician working the crowd, and speeches that had everyone in stitches – the kind of hilarious, heartfelt moments that make wedding days so special.
SORRY THE DANCE FLOOR IS FULL. PLEASE COME BACK.
The whole day had this brilliant mix of cosy and dramatic. The weather kept everyone on their toes, but Meghan and Alex just rolled with it, and honestly, those moody skies before golden hour added so much atmosphere to the photos. Sometimes the unpredictable days create the best memories – you can’t manufacture that kind of drama and beauty. This was a proper Dartmoor celebration, complete with all the weather, all the laughs, and all the love.
